Fritjof Capra, the quantam physicist and the author of the best-selling, The Tao of Physics wanted to write that great book, but he was working fulltime and could not take time out from his hectic shedule to complete the manusciript. But he met up with a woman who really admired his work. What would it take for him to complete the book, she asked him. His reply was to the point: A year off from work and the salary he would have earned during that year. It was in the '70s and his salary was $26,000 per year. She gave him the money right then and there. And this is how easy it is!

Here's a tip for all of you out there interested in getting your work published. Start right where you are. You can personally submit your material to local publications. Hand the copy over to the editors in charge. This way you meet people connected to the word world, and they may even suggest other ways of submitting. Also, tell your friends about your need to publish and be amazed at what they come up with. One way to get feedback is to host your own reading at your home, for instance, or a venue of your choice. Joining a local writers' group is stimulating too. Most workshop leaders are eager to share publishing information with participants. Do it!
